The Gerardo Cesari s.p.a. was founded in 1935 by Gerardo Cesari and production started the year later with vineyards located on the shores of the Lake of Garda in Verona province. After the II World War, the company expanded its activity to Mid and South Italy, attaining in the first decade consistent success and fame who gave strong basis to enlarge and improve the commitment in the wine business. Cesari began Amarone production in Negrar (Verona) where the company has 30 actars of vineyards exclusively vocated to produce Amarone della Valpolicella. In 1957 born into the business and after a degree as Enologist, followed by a long training in France in Bordeaux area, Franco Cesari, Gerardo Cesari's son, started its activity with the Company. In 1960 Cesari begin the export to Germany and United Kingdom and in few years in other European countries, having good success and appreciation. Nowdays Cesari wines can be found in the following markets: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxemburg, United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Estonia, Russia, Malta, Suisse, Nederland, USA, Canada, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Singapoor, Hong Kong, New Zeland and Australia. The originally wines range including products like Amarone, Soave, Bardolino and Valpolicella has been improved with new wine of international reputation as Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet, Mara, Nibai and Mitico. Cesari wines are produced with grapes coming from their own vineyards or produced by winemakers which sell their production only to Cesari since 1960, under direct supervision and instruction of Cesari wine-makers. Twenthyfive new ectars of vineyards specilized to produce Amarone were purchased in 1994 and the total of 100 ectars in Verona province is now producing Amarone Classico. Actually in the Verona province, Cesari has two cellars. The older one located in S.Pietro in Cariano where the fine wine goes to the vinification and recently a completly new facility was built in Cavaion Veronese for the production, bottling and oak barrel ageing of the fine wines. The new cellar is the concrete expression of the Cesari philosophy to produce fine wines, to educate the public about wine and to maintain a tradition of excellence for the next generation.
