Castillo de Molina

Intense violet ruby-red color. Presents an expressive and complex nose primarily marked by red fruits such as black currant, cherries, berries, forest fruits, and spices that are well integrated with the toasted notes that come from the oak barrels. Fruity and well-integrated palate with good volume and soft, ripe tannins that lead to a long finish. Ideal with red meats, game birds, venison, and ripe cheeses.

Wine Spectator

Polished and ripe, with a hefty layer of coffee-tinged toast fronting for dark fig, macerated currant and cherry fruit. The finish is full-bodied and toasty. A bit obvious in style, but solid enough. Drink now.

Score: 87. —James Molesworth, December 31, 2009.

Wine Enthusiast

Basic aromas of spiced plum, cassis and black cherry set up a similar set of flavors, while the feel is pure, clean and easygoing. This is a no-nonsense, familiar type of mass-market Cabernet. It's generic in its approach and it doesn't vary much along the way.

Score: 86. December 22, 2011.
